Atlantic 10 Releases 2010-2011 Basketball Schedules

The Atlantic 10 Conference is coming off yet another very successful season where they sent three teams to the NCAA Tournament.  Temple, Richmond, and Xavier earned a spot among college basketball’s elite 65 teams, which marked the third season in a row that the A-10 has sent 3 teams to the NCAA tourney.

The Atlantic 10 is apparently preparing for the NCAA Tournament early as their recently released schedule includes 39 opponents who made the Big Dance last year.  In addition to the 39 NCAA Tournament teams, every Atlantic 10 team will face at least one BCS Conference opponent during the season.

The large amount of high-profile opponents on the A-10 schedules is a big reason why they will have 35 games on national television in 2010-2011.  25 of the games will be on ESPN networks while the other 10 games will be shown on the CBS College Sports Network.  32 additional games will be featured in CBS College Sports’ syndication package giving the A-10 a total of 67 games on major TV networks.

On January 5th, the Atlantic 10 will open their conference schedule with Richmond taking on Charlotte, La Salle playing George Washington, Saint Joseph’s facing Duquesne, and Fordham taking on Temple.  If this year is anything like the 2009-2010 season, the conference standings should shuffle around like an online texas holdem game.

A-10 Commissioner Bernadette McGlade is certainly excited about another competitive conference race as she said, “We are looking forward to another exciting season of Atlantic 10 Basketball.  Our television package is impressive, and with the return of several outstanding players, A-10 fans will see another season of great basketball.”

With three NCAA Tournament qualifiers and the reigning NIT champion in Dayton, the A-10 promises to offer an exciting year!
